All CONTEXT PhD fellows will begin their training in January 2017. Fellows will be funded for a maximum of 36 months and submit their thesis in January 2020.
Candidates must be within the first four years of their research careers (measured from the date when a researcher obtained the degree that would formally entitle him or her to embark on a doctorate) and not have previously been awarded a doctoral degree.
Each PhD fellow is entitled up to €3,110 per month living allowance (subject to a correction coefficient increase depending upon the country of registration), in addition to €600 per month mobility allowance, and up to €500 per month for family allowance, less employer deductions, employee taxes and pension.
The CONTEXT PhD fellowships contain the following requirements:
residency - An applicant may not apply for a project where the university in which they register is in the same country where they have resided for more than 12 of the past 36 months. For example, the PhD fellowship for Project 1 will register with Trinity College Dublin in the Republic of Ireland. As such, applicants for this project must not have been a resident in the Republic of Ireland for more than 12 of the previous 36 months from the time of the commencement of the project (January 1, 2017).
mobility - PhD fellows are required to travel between the CONTEXT partners located across Ireland, the United Kingdom, and Denmark. Each PhD project has been designed in such a way as to satisfy these mobility requirements.
This is a preliminary application process. If successful, each CONTEXT fellow will be required to complete an additional application process with their university of registration.
Candidates based in the Police Service of Northern Ireland will have to undergo security vetting prior to their secondment in the PSNI.
